Advanced Data For Orthopaedic Pathways (ADOPT): A Project Proposal For Real-Time Machine Learning To Optimise Patient Outcomes Through Enhanced Data Collection

Sunny Deo’s collaboration with TCC-Casemix and the University of Bath is making forward progress, with a poster presentation at a National Orthopaedic AI Conference in Dec 2025, the start of a pilot project and a broader discussion with the Patient Learning and Safety Organisation in March 2025.

Another key area of this research is related to how accurately we diagnose certain conditions which affects knee osteoarthritis and symptoms, such as obesity. We presented on this at the British Orthopaedic Association Meeting in September 2024, with a poster titled: ‘Clinical Application of Limb Dimension Index allows for better identification of patients at higher risk of longer operating times and in-patient stay’.

Mr Deo was also part of a biomechanics project related to ACL surgery and recovery, with the presentation of this being undertaken by a colleague in September 2025 at the European Society of Biomechanics Meeting.
